Darby McCarthy last worked as a Multimedia Journalist at the Scripps NBC 26 (WGBA) television station in Wisconsin until 2024. She specialized as a "Neighborhood Reporter" for the Neenah-Menasha area. Prior to her move to America's Dairyland, Darby worked as a Digital Content Producer at Scripps sister station NewsChannel 5 in Nashville. She was hired to join the team immediately after graduation from university.

Darby attended college at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), graduating with her Bachelor's degree in Broadcast

Journalism in 2021, with a minor in Theatre. She went on to utilize her acquired skills in both fields of study, working as a paid actor in the Nashville theatrical circuit and collaborating with various news outlets in the Middle Tennessee region.

Inspired by her initial years studying languages, politics, and classical thinkers, she realized that what most interested her was dual-part: learning more about the

world and contributing to the enlightenment of others. Her interest in attaining new knowledge and perspectives is rivaled by her passion for sharing her discoveries and insights with an engaged audience - through whatever medium is most appropriate for the topic at hand.

Darby has been involved in community theatre from the age of ten, building her improvisational skills and abilities as a quick-thinking performer in front of live audiences. She has acted professionally in Nashville, TN and has appeared on national television as a prize-winning contestant on an episode of Wheel of Fortune

Darby also established a weekly news and music-sharing program, which ran for two years, on the WMTS 88.3 radio station. This show centered around interviewing and promoting musicians who'd lived or performed in her hometown community in Middle Tennessee. Her work with the station eventually earned her an award in honor of the networking and listenership associated with her show. Her years of experience running her own radio program and conducting interviews on air led to her eventual promotion as a member of the board of station managers in her senior year.

Darby has written many articles for her university's Marketing and Communications Department on their official news website. She has contributed to Middle Tennessee News's video newscasts and webpage. Her articles have also appeared in Nashville Lifestyles Magazine (Nashville, TN), The Tennessean (Nashville, TN), The Daily News Journal (Murfreesboro, TN), The Leaf-Chronicle (Clarksville, TN), and The Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN), of which the latter 4 publications are papers in the USA Today network.
